I'm retired and The median home value here is around $644,700, which is pretty steep. It's a a small town city with about 12,544 people. Homes are going for about $644,700 on average. You can expect to pay around $2,873 for rent here. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Let me know your thoughts. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Old Town for 3 years. Moved from Denver for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is average - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Old Town schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Homeless population growing downtown. And community vibe can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 9/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'm a project manager and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want dating scene, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
