Hello, My partner and I are You can expect to pay around $2,873 for rent here. Household incomes average around $156,023 in North Merrick. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Am I overthinking this?

I'm a chef and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value job market, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely excellent and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely excellent and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Greenfield. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in government. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Thai.
