Remote worker thinking about North Merrick

Hey everyone, I grew up here but left for a while. Median household income is $156,023, which feels pretty solid for the area. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What would you do?

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Lakewood. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in government. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Hope this helps!.

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the Highland side. Completely different vibe. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Bought a house here in 2018 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone about the same since then.
