Thinking about relocating to North Merrick from Tucson
With a population of 12,544, North Merrick is a small town. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Am I overthinking this? Thanks in advance! Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

I work in construction here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is solid. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in The Heights area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Lakewood. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in legal. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely better than expected and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (North) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Dating scene is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
