Best industries in North Miami right now

I'm retired and With a population of 59,429, North Miami is a smaller city. Rent is about $1,543/month for a decent place. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What would you do? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Atlanta about 14 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is improving.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Good luck with whatever you decide..
