Considering North Miami vs St. Louis -help me decide
With a population of 59,429, North Miami is a smaller city. Crime rate is something to consider -North Miami sits at 797.8 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $1,543 for rent here. Average temperature is around 76--F, so it's warm year-round. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Any advice would be great. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Maple Ridge for 7 years. Moved from Baltimore for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
retail is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is tough - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Bugs and humidity in summer. And walkability can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 5/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.
