Is North Plainfield worth it salary-wise?

Curious what people think. Homes are going for about $350,700 on average. With a population of 22,667, North Plainfield is a small town. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 14 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in South. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in legal. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is public transit. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Tampa about 6 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is improving.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. No regrets on my end..

Came here for family and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor recreation is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
