Hey, I'm a teacher here and Poverty rate is 4.8%, which is pretty low. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Springfield for 15 years. Moved from New York for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
legal is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Springfield schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Chain restaurants dominate. And community vibe can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 6/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Eastside. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Hope this helps!.

Used to live on the South side, now on the Lakewood side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Moved here from Nashville about 6 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to cultural scene but It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Bought a house here in 2019 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.
