Not sure if this has been asked before, but My family moved here when I was a kid. Household incomes average around $81,940 in North Port. The unemployment rate is 2.6%, which is pretty low. The suburbs are where most families end up. Am I overthinking this? Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from Charlotte about 6 years ago. The main reasons were school and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Fairview area are decent. Kids love it here.
