Best kept secrets of North Potomac, MD

First post here. The unemployment rate is 3.0%, which is pretty low. It's a a small town city with about 23,994 people. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What do you all think? The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely challenging and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (South) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Homeless population growing downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Old Town for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The community vibe scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Hope this helps!.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (North) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
