Hey, Thoughts? Any help is appreciated. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development.

I'm a teacher and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Nashville it's improving.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from Charlotte about 10 years ago. The main reasons were school and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is solid.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Feel free to reach out with questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a accountant, 55, moved here 5 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Meadowbrook and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Good healthcare facilities
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The community vibe situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for young professionals. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $40K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
