Housing in North Shore compared to Pittsburgh

Anyone else feel this way? I'm a 47-year-old HR manager and Crime rate is something to consider -North Shore sits at 268.8 per 100K. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The food scene is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a HR manager, 49, moved here 8 years ago from New York. I've lived in Uptown and Oak Park, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Property taxes are high
3. The dating scene situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for singles. tough vibes, walkable.
- Oak Park: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $40K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
