Couple moving to North Springfield from out of state

Hello, It's a a small town city with about 7,511 people. The median home value here is around $630,300, which is pretty steep. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. TIA! Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Salt Lake City it's tough.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Dallas about 1 years ago. The main reasons were school and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is solid.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Cedar Grove. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in tech. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Korean.

No regrets on my end..

I'm a chef and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. The community is challenging and there's always something going on.
