Been meaning to ask this. I've been here for 6 years and You can expect to pay around $1,304 for rent here. With a population of 12,511, North St. Paul is a small town. The median home value here is around $286,600, which seems about average. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Am I overthinking this? The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a contractor, 58, moved here 4 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Midtown and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Can feel isolated
3. The weather situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for couples. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $90K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
