Just moved to North St. Paul, any tips?

I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Rent is about $1,304/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. With a population of 12,511, North St. Paul is a small town. It's a a small town city with about 12,511 people. Average temperature is around 47--F, so expect cold winters. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Worth the trade-offs? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a sales manager, 31, moved here 2 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in West and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Four distinct seasons
2. Close to major attractions
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The public transit situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for young professionals. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $80K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
