So, We have two kids and Household incomes average around $66,774 in North Tonawanda. Rent is about $914/month for a decent place. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Worth the trade-offs? Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Meadowbrook. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Thai.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..
