Anyone else feel this way? My family moved here when I was a kid. The median home value here is around $606,800, which is pretty steep. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I've lived in Greenfield for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- The walkability scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 8 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely underrated and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Downtown) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
