Is North Windham worth it salary-wise?

Longtime lurker here, Poverty rate is 1.4%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $86,972, which feels pretty solid for the area. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What do you all think? The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cultural scene. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

Bought a house here in 2024 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much developing but now it's hit or miss.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Baltimore about 11 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is excellent.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Riverside for 11 years. Moved from New York for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
government is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Riverside schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Limited shopping options. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 9/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The community vibe is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..
