Longtime lurker here, I'm a remote worker and With a population of 2,503, North York is a small town. It's a a small town city with about 2,503 people. The median home value here is around $120,700, which is actually reasonable. Poverty rate is 22.5%, which is higher than I expected. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Anyone in a similar situation? TIA! Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. the quality of life is solid.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is better than expected in most areas.

I work in government here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is challenging. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The nightlife is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in Fairview area are improving. Kids love it here.
