Studio apartments in Northampton -options?

Military spouse here. You can expect to pay around $1,404 for rent here. With a population of 28,640, Northampton is a smaller city. Poverty rate is 7.9%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $78,467, which feels about average for the area. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Has anyone dealt with this? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The school system is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a electrician, 40, moved here 1 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Fairview and Downtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Decent public transit for the size
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The job market situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Fairview: Great for retirees. solid vibes, walkable.
- Downtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $40K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
