Not sure if this has been asked before, but Homes are going for about $398,000 on average. Median household income is $78,467, which feels about average for the area. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Let me know your thoughts. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a project manager, 28, moved here 5 years ago from Miami. I've lived in The Heights and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The weather situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- The Heights: Great for remote workers. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $70K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Old Town. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in legal. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Italian.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much pricey but now it's surprisingly good.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Nashville it's underrated.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 6 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..
