Working in Northampton -salaries realistic?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I grew up here but left for a while. Poverty rate is 7.9%, which is pretty low. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. TIA! Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 11 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Bought a house here in 2021 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The public transit is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 2 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.
