Cost of living reality check -Northampton

Longtime lurker here, It's a a small town city with about 10,366 people. The unemployment rate is 2.1%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 6.2%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,156 for rent here. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Pros:
- Growing food scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- Walkable downtown
- Active local events

Cons:
- Limited cultural events
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homelessness issues downtown
Should I be concerned? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.
