Crime rate is something to consider -Northborough sits at 19.9 per 100K. Average temperature is around 48--F, so expect cold winters. The unemployment rate is 2.9%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,219/month for a decent place. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I genuinely enjoy living here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 1 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Fairview for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Lots of new development happening
- The school system scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Good luck with whatever you decide..
