Is Northbrook good for remote workers?

Rent is about $2,334/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 2.4%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $155,321, which feels pretty solid for the area. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. Would love some local perspective. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Oak Park. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in government. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Hope this helps!.

Came here for work and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The public transit is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
