We're a young couple and You can expect to pay around $1,687 for rent here. Homes are going for about $376,200 on average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Thoughts? Cheers. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Fairview. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in marketing. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Korean.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Used to live on the Meadowbrook side, now on the North side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.

I've lived in The Heights for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
- The food scene scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Hope this helps!.
