Studio apartments in Northdale -options?

Hi all, People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Bought a house here in 2017 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a nurse, 42, moved here 1 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Old Town and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Limited high-paying job options
3. The cost of living situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for remote workers. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Chicago it's tough.

Used to live on the Downtown side, now on the Lakewood side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a HR manager, 27, moved here 8 years ago from Atlanta. I've lived in South and Highland, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Nice parks and green spaces
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The weather situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for couples. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Highland: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Atlanta, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Eastside. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in tech. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The cultural scene is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've lived in West for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Active local events and festivals
- The food scene scene is average

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Charlotte about 9 years ago. The main reasons were work and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited public transit options

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely challenging and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (The Heights) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
