Is Northfield worth it salary-wise?

Hi all, Been living here since 2024. Rent is about $1,036/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Northfield sits at 58.0 per 100K. Household incomes average around $92,000 in Northfield. You can expect to pay around $1,036 for rent here. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Any advice would be great.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in North for 4 years. Moved from Denver for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Nightlife is limited. And nightlife can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 8/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Springfield. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in legal. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely excellent and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Eastside) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
