Hey, Poverty rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 57--F, so the weather is moderate. Rent is about $1,554/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Northfield sits at 49.0 per 100K. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Let me know your thoughts. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I've lived in Springfield for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- The traffic scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 1 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into running, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
