I've been here for 6 years and Median household income is $104,919, which feels pretty solid for the area. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely tough and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Sunset. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in marketing. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Southern.
