Hi all, It's a a smaller city city with about 37,953 people. The median home value here is around $440,900, which is pretty steep. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Am I wrong here? Any help is appreciated. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Springfield. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Sunset for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Four distinct seasons
- The healthcare scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. No regrets on my end..
