Is Northlake still affordable?

Hi all, Just moved here 8 months ago and Rent is about $1,164/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $242,400 on average. Median household income is $77,564, which feels about average for the area. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Pros:
- Low taxes
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Rising rent prices
- Sprawl everywhere
- Chain restaurants dominate
Thoughts? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.
