Relocating to Norton, OH -pros and cons?

Curious what people think. I'm a college student here and It's a a small town city with about 11,576 people. Homes are going for about $181,900 on average. The unemployment rate is 2.0%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 2.6%, which is pretty low. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely challenging and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Minneapolis about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is improving.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if dating scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Bought a house here in 2024 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone about the same since then.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is job market. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much reasonable but now it's challenging.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Charlotte about 12 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are developing, gas is underrated.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Feel free to reach out with questions..
