What to expect moving to Norwood?

Hey everyone, I relocated for work and It's a a smaller city city with about 31,380 people. Rent is about $2,056/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $2,056 for rent here. Homes are going for about $613,500 on average. With a population of 31,380, Norwood is a smaller city. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Anyone in a similar situation? The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 12 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Fairview for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- The pet-friendliness scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
