Working in Notre Dame -salaries realistic?

Longtime lurker here, I'm originally from Tampa and Crime rate is something to consider -Notre Dame sits at 685.2 per 100K. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What are your go-to spots?
