First post here. It's a a smaller city city with about 66,224 people. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Thoughts? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Close to major attractions
- The pet-friendliness scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
