Random thought, I'm a college student here and With a population of 66,224, Novi is a smaller city. The unemployment rate is 2.6%, which is pretty low. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Highland for 1 years. Moved from Salt Lake City for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. government is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is solid - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Highland schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Chain restaurants dominate. Road conditions need improvement. And community vibe can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 5/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

The food scene here is solid. Tons of great craft beer places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
