OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Westside. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in government. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

The food scene here is underrated. Tons of great Korean places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 7 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
