Random thought, I'm a teacher here and Rent is about $820/month for a decent place. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Worth the trade-offs? The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Sunset area are excellent. Kids love it here.
