We have two kids and The unemployment rate is 4.9%, which is about average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Any advice would be great. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights
- The outdoor recreation scene is decent
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Chain restaurants dominate
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Portland about 15 years ago. The main reasons were school and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are wild, gas is tough.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Hope this helps!.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Atlanta about 8 years ago. The main reasons were weather and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 3 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
