How is Oak Forest for outdoor activities?
Longtime lurker here, Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Is this normal for Oak Forest?

I've lived in Oak Park for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Diverse dining options
- The cost of living scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for family and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The cultural scene is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much manageable but now it's hit or miss.
