Random thought, Military spouse here. Poverty rate is 15.2%, which is higher than I expected. Rent is about $1,208/month for a decent place. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Any advice would be great. Any help is appreciated. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Sunset) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much growing but now it's excellent.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely challenging and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Springfield) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great craft beer places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure
- The healthcare scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Limited entertainment options
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Definitely worth checking out..

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is cultural scene. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..
