Hey folks, Been living here since 2021. The median home value here is around $475,500, which is pretty steep. The unemployment rate is 6.0%, which is about average. Crime rate is something to consider -Oak Hills sits at 319.7 per 100K. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Thanks! There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want public transit, then yeah this place is great. But if traffic matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is excellent in most areas.

I've lived in Old Town for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
- The food scene scene is decent
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Highland. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in education. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Korean.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
