Oak Hills quality of life -am I missing something?

Longtime lurker here, Just moved here 18 months ago and Household incomes average around $124,594 in Oak Hills. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. It's a a small town city with about 11,464 people. The median home value here is around $632,600, which is pretty steep. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want housing market, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Fairview. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The nightlife scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. No regrets on my end..

Used to live on the Meadowbrook side, now on the Sunset side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 8 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.
