Working remotely from Oak Hills

Longtime lurker here, I grew up here but left for a while. Household incomes average around $124,594 in Oak Hills. Median household income is $124,594, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's a a small town city with about 11,464 people. With a population of 11,464, Oak Hills is a small town. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Does this match your experience? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Came here for family and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The food scene is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Bought a house here in 2023 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from New York about 9 years ago. The main reasons were family and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is challenging.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Definitely worth checking out..

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in Lakewood area are decent. Kids love it here.
