Top 5 things I love about Oak Lawn

Random thought, I'm retired and Rent is about $1,310/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $267,900, which seems about average. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What do you all think? Thanks! Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Highland area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Springfield. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in finance. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Definitely worth checking out..

Used to live on the Oak Park side, now on the Eastside side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.

I'm a contractor and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is average and there's always something going on.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. it exceeded my expectations. Worth doing your research before committing.

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Sunset. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in legal. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
