With a population of 13,656, Oak Park is a small town. The median home value here is around $1,017,100, which is pretty steep. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Thoughts? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from San Diego about 11 years ago. The main reasons were work and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Affordable housing options
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is improving.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
