Thinking about relocating to Oak Park from Salt Lake City

OK so I'm a 39-year-old teacher and Household incomes average around $160,484 in Oak Park. It's a a small town city with about 13,656 people. You can expect to pay around $3,150 for rent here. Median household income is $160,484, which feels pretty solid for the area. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Anyone in a similar situation? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Portland about 13 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Four distinct seasons
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. No regrets on my end..
