Hello, We have two kids and Homes are going for about $456,300 on average. Median household income is $108,026, which feels pretty solid for the area. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Has anyone dealt with this? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Background: I'm a writer, 48, moved here 15 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Midtown and Lakewood, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Homeless population growing downtown
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The nightlife situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for singles. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Lakewood: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $60K-$70K here.
