Affordable areas near Oak Ridge?

Alright, I relocated for work and It's a a small town city with about 24,395 people. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What do you all think? Thanks! The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Portland it's pretty good.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 6 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
